The Perks
We’re calling all software developers, UI/UX designers, project managers, and anyone interested in tech to compete in developing a live streaming feature for the Blvcker spades app. This competition offers exclusive opportunities to meet with recruiters from Square.
Winners will walk away with a Blvck Spades prize pack, tickets to the BITCON Benefit Concert featuring Rick Ross, potential paid opportunities, and more. Don’t miss your chance to innovate, network, and shine in the tech community!
The Challenge
We are aiming to implement and innovate on the following key features:
- In-game Voice Chat: Enable real-time voice interactions for up to four players during gameplay.
- Text Chat Stream: Create a dynamic platform for spectators to comment and engage as the game unfolds.
- Up Next Feature: Develop a queue system that allows spectators to easily join games as opportunities arise.
Participation Categories:
Participants can compete in one of three ways:
- Ideation: Bring fresh perspectives by assessing our current concepts, suggesting enhancements, or proposing entirely new feature ideas that could revolutionize the user experience.
- UI/UX Design: Evaluate and enhance the aesthetic and functional aspects of our design. You can also choose to completely reimagine the interface to make it more engaging, intuitive, and/or more user-friendly. It’s up to you!
- Technical Development: Build on the provided UI assets to create robust game streaming features. Whether it’s refining our existing ideas or creating new solutions, use your technical experience to show off your skills.
Judging criteria will be provided after participants have registered.

Is this hackathon beginner friendly?
YES! All skill levels are welcome. We place a higher priority on innovative ideas than technical skills, so don’t let a lack of coding experience deter you from getting involved. You belong in tech and we want you to participate!
Is it free to participate?
YES! It is free to participate in the hackathon and all participants will receive free tickets to BITCON 2024.
Will I have time to attend BITCON if I participate in the hackathon?
YES! We took special care to schedule the hackathon in a way that allows participants to attend BITCON without any disruption to other BITCON programming.
What coding language will we be using.
The Blvcker app was built in Unity, so experience with it is a plus but not necessary for your participation.
What if I don't have a team?
We will divide individuals into teams on the first day of the hackathon. No worries.
Can I bring my own team?
YES! If you already have a team of up to 4 individuals you can all register, fill out the application, and participate.
